Her eyes grew wide as she looked around. There wasn't anything that she could see, but that wasn't any comfort. Without a weapon, she was as good as helpless.
"Well...how near?" she said nervously.

Tim laughed nervously, "Oh, you know. Anywhere from a quarter of a mile to ten feet. I suggest we hurry." He took her hand again and pulled her forward, quickening his pace. He glanced back, nothing still.

She rushed along with him, ignoring the branches that scratched at her arms and face. All that mattered was getting away fast, she thought as the ADHD kicked in.
That was when they both heard the obvious sounds of a monster close behind them.

Tim swore under his breath. "Get behind me," he commanded. Drawing an arrow he knotched it, pulling back as hard as he could. He turned around, ready to see what was there, and then all went quiet. No rustle of leaves or anything. No sign of movement. Way too silent.

"What...what just happened?" Zenith said, looking to where they had heard the sound come from.
The was absolutely nothing there. "Is...your bow still glowing?"

"No, it's not. That's strange. How far into the woods are we? Past the border?" Tim looked around again, then at the dull bow in his hands.

"I'm-" she started, looking around, "-not sure," she finished, looking at all the unfamiliar trees, devoid of any landmark to tell them where they were. "How far did we run when the monster was behind us?"

"Not quite sure. Dang it, I hate trees, they all look the same!" Tim bit his lip, doing a quick 360. Dad, if you hear me... a little help? And of course, nothing. He swore again, just because it made him feel better. His bow flickered to life, but a second later the light died out again. This was just plain weird...

"Maybe...whatever it is moves really really fast?" she said, not sure if it was a consolation. "And it comes and goes really quickly."
So we're like the mice being chased by an amused cat, just waiting to kill us, she thought to herself. Great.

"It would have to teleport to go from here to a forth of a mile away, wouldn't it?" Tim didn't like the prospect. It was rather dreary. "And if it does run fast, we'll just have to go faster!" He tore through the forest, and his bow glowed for exactly seven seconds before dying again. Maybe it was just broken? Probably not.

She ran alongside him, thankful that she had always been quick. The occasional crackling of leaves or brushing of branches could be heard, but always quickly disappeared. Maybe they had outrun it.

Tim stopped suddenly, hearing a low hiss behind them. What the hell was that thing? Could it be... a god or something? "You're a daughter of Athena, any idea wat that thing might be?" he asked, taking his arrows from off his shoulders. Wordlessly he passed her the bow and arrow, taking his dagger out to arm them both.

She looked around, making sure that whatever it was wasn't close even though Tim's bow wasn't glowing.
"I haven't the slightest idea," she said nervously. Not knowing made her feel more uncomfortable than the idea of facing whatever it was. "But there's been some pretty freaky stuff since...you know, the Titan army started forming again."

"Yeah, ancient nasties stirring and all that." He looked around again. Nothing, though the bow was still glowing held loosely in Zenith's hand. Then he had an idea, jerking his chin upwards, he looked above eye level, above them. Afraid of what he would see, he kept his eyes closed for a second. When he opened them... Oh my gods.

Zenith heard Tim gasp and looked up. "What the-" she started. It was...it was...she didn't even know what it was.
It all clicked. It would land for a bit, then take off flying again, sometimes going out of range for the bow to detect. She cursed herself for being so stupid.
"Do we hide, run, or fight?" she whispered.
