"We run," he said deciding. Was that even from Greek mythology? Yeah, he was pretty sure that was a Stymphalian bird. But they served Ares... and they usually were in a flock. "It's a Stymphalian bird, isn't it? Those are like... impossible to beat." And he didn't stand there for a minute more.

She took off after him, hoping in vain that the bird hadn't spotted them yet. "It...looks a little big to be a Stymphalian bird, doesn't it?" she said in between breaths as they ran.

"Yeah," he agreed, turing his head to speak to her, "maybe it's a hybrid or something? What if Kronos has been messing with genetics?"

"Let's put it this way. I don't want to get close enough to this mutant bird to find out," she said, starting to feel tired after all the running. She prayed desperately to her mom and all the other gods who might be listening to let them get away alive.

Time nearly shouted out. There was the edge of the woods, just a couple feet further. Then they'd be safe. Then they could run to Chiron and make him deal with big evil mutant birds.

Just as they sprinted forward, the bird landed right in front of them. Zenith felt her heart sink as she knew neither of them could fight it. Tim gripped his dagger and she grabbed an arrow, knowing whatever they did wouldn't be enough to fight off the bird.

More muttered swearing wasn't exactly going help them, but it was better then nothing. He glanced at Zenith. "Well, if I die now, wasn't how I was planning to go. Better then being boiled alive I guess," he muttered. Then he did the thing any rational human being would NEVER do. He jumped at the bird, aiming the dagger at it's neck.

"Tim!" she cried out, amazed at how stupid he was being. The bird easily brushed him away, ramming him into a nearby tree.
Letting the ADHD take over, she aimed her arrow and fired. She wasn't able to see where it hit, but whever it did the bird felt it. It cawed loudly and took off into the sky.
Dropping the bow, she rushed over to Tim. "Hey, are you okay?" she said, shaking his shoulder lightly.

Tim said something really eloquent. Some thing akin to 'uggahhhgh.' He pushed himself to a a sitting position, gingerly feeling the back of his head. When his fingers came away red he laughed giddily before his head lolled to the side. "Ouchie," he muttered.

"Crap," she muttered. "What do I do?"
Tim needed medical help, but she couldn't just leave him there to go get it...not with that bird hanging around and the gods knew what else. Still, waiting for help to come really wasn't an option.
"Can you stand up?" she asked, akwardly putting an arm around his shoulders in an attempt to help him.

"I can do it myself," he protested, pushing her away. Getting to his feet was easy, staying up was not. He knees failed him and he crumpled down. Or not...
"I hate giant mutant chickens." He threw an arm around her shoulders, leaning on her slightly. He felt the warm red liquid drip down the back on his neck, his shirft absorbing it right up.

She tried to ignore how tired she was and just how much taller Tim was. All she had to do was get him to Chiron, or anyone who could take care of him.
The blood that was oozing from his head worried her, though. It would be just her luck if he passed out and she had to drag him the whole way back.
He would stumble every few feet and she would have to catch him. She could tell that he didn't like having to go so slowly and depend on her, but there wasn't a whole lot he could do about it.
"Tim, that had to be the stupidest thing I've even seen someone do!" she said.

He laughed, it came out slightly high pitched from the pain. "I've done stupider stuff, trust me." Leaning on her smaller frame wasn't exactly easy, but he shifted most of his weight to the other side and that worked for a bit.
Until he stumbled again, which annoyed him. My hair is ruined... he thought, then scolded himself for vainity in a situation like this. More then just you hair will be ruined if someone doesn't patch your head up quickly.

"This isn't working," she stated as he stumbled yet again and she just barely caught him. "Tim, we need to think of something else to do."
She didn't expct an answer from him. Every second he got more and more out of it. She estimated that he'd been unconscious in less than ten minutes.

"I can stay here, it's lovely in the forest today. Oh, just look at the wildlife, that bird is huge!" he said, giggling slightly, leaning back to see the giant bird in the tree behind them. "It's so pretty, with it's feathers and all."
