Tim looked up, trying to focus on the speaker. Though he detected something less then warm about the boy he said. "An attack."
Well, it seemed lame worded like that. But it was the truth.

"Really? And here I thought that you two might just have been having a wild party over on your side of the river," Cain said with obvious sarcasm. "So what attacked you?" Even though it sounded like he didn't care, he was definitely curious about what was in the woods.

"Oh no, she forgot to bring the cake. THEN the giant mutant bird attacked," Tim said tightly. He didn't have time for this, they needed help!

"Giant mutant bird," Cain said flatly. "So a giant mutant bird attacked you and then what? Did you kill it?"

"No, it flew away," Tim said. "Look, can you go get Chiron or something? She's lost a lot of blood, and the back of my head is split open."

Cain was happy that the boy hadn't asked him to go across the lake or something. One of the few things he couldn't stand was water. "Fine," he said, sounding just as sarcastic and self-centered as ever.
When Cain had walked away, Zenith said softly to Tim, "See? I knew it would turn out okay."

"Yeah, it will be," Tim smiled a bit. "He's got a head as big as a hydra though, doesn't he?"

"Yeah," she said softly in agreement. "I hope he comes back soon. He didn't look like he was in a hurry."

"Well if we die,: he said weakly, "we can always blame him." Tim hated feeling pain. He wanted to be able to smile and get back to normal. as in no-mutant-birds normal.

Zenith would have smiled, but it was impossible to find anything humorous at a time like this. "He'll come back...sooner or later," she said slowly; forcing the words out of her mouth took a great deal of effort. Too much. She wouldn't be conscious for much longer.

Tim pulled Zenith down next to him. She shouldn't be standing up. He wished he could do something. But he was the son of the god of lust. That really wasn't going to help in a situation as such.

Zenith nudged Tim. "I think he's coming back..."
True enough, Cain was coming back, now soaking wet. He shrugged. "I couldn't find Chiron. Looks like you two are out of luck."

Tim rolled his eyes. "Look kid," he said, even though he was probably only a bit older then him, "maybe you can't get it through your thick skull, or maybe you've never seen anyone die before. Either way, you need to find someone who isn't a brat like you to help."
He narrowed his eyes, which helped the double vision and twisted his neck so the boy could see his wound. He hoped it looked serious enough for Cain to get the picture.

Cain cringed, then quickly went back to impassive mode. "Listen, I feel your pain, but even if I could find someone, they're gonna have a problem getting across that river. Then of couse there's the matter of getting you two back on this side...Either way, hate to say it, but you guys are screwed."

Tim wondered breifly how bad the consequences would be if he shot an arrow or two at the guy. Then he sighed. "Fine, have it on your conscience. Not my problem." He felt his heart sink to his toes.
((Now what? Maybe a new OC? I've been planning a son of Apollo...))
