"What's just-" she started and looked forward. "Oh. That's not good."

"I have a feeling Tyche must really hate us," Tim said, looking down into the river bank. "Was there even a river there before?" But now there was, and if you squinted, you could just see the cabins. But it was deep, and rushing. And there were no bridges anywhere near.
"Now what?"

"Call me crazy but that river just formed out of nowhere and it did it pretty quickly," she said before answering his second question.
Then she said, "What would you estimate our chances of someone coming and helping us are?"

"I'm pretty sure it did," he agreeded. "And I'd say little to none." He called out once or twice, but the river was way too loud for anyone to here. He could feel the bloodloss beginning to effect him, and the gash was getting infected, he was almost sure of it.

"Well...we try to cross it or go around," she stated flatly, finding neither option very appealing.

"Joy," he said flatly. "How about we test the depth?"

"Well...it's going pretty fast but I think it's our only option," she said hesitantly.

Tim stumbled down the river bank, picking up a stone and tossing it in. "Um... about six or seven feet," he said uncertainly. Luck was just not on his side today.

Zenith took a deep breath. "I suppose now would be a good time to bring up the fact that I am not a good swimmer, and having an immobile arm isn't going to help matters much."

"I'm seeing double, if that water is cold, even the slightest I think it might knock me out," he said nervously. "Damn it, we are so screwed." He sat down on a rock, holding his head in his hands.
"Is it really bad?" he asked, twsiting his neck so she could see the wound.

"Well..." she said, fighting the repulsion that welled within her. "...Yeah, it's pretty bad," she finally settled on, figuring that sugarcoating the truth wouldn't do them any good.
It was then that she looked past the river and was almost sure she saw someone a mere hundred or so feet away from them. "Tim," she said, "Am I imagining things or is there someone out there?"

Tim cringed. "Probably just you- wait, I think I see it too!" He would have called out, but merely opening his mouth hurt now. Instead he let out a weak whimper, hating how helpless he felt.

Cain scanned the woods, not really caring what he saw. It was raining and muddy, only two of the factors that contributed to his foul mood.
He wasn't even sure why he was in the forest. Maybe because it was more appealing than the crowded Hermes cabin. Or maybe because being miserable just made him feel happy.
That's an oxymoron, he thought to himself as he absently walked through the woods, the trees shielding him from the worst of the rain.
And at that moment he heard water running. "There isn't a lake going through here," he said aloud, and-being a curious son of Hermes-instinctively went towards the sound.

Tim was pretty sure this was what dying felt like. He had done a good job keeping alive until now. Now it was really affecting him. Feeling the back of his head, he nearly passed out due to the wave of pain. The caked out blood craked and fresh red liquid trickled down his neck. Not when someone just might be out there...
He turned his glazed eyes to Zenith, wondering how much blood one could lose before the end of it all. Before the one way trip to the Underworld and whatever awaited you there.

Taking a better look at his surroundings, Cain saw two figures on the other side of the river he had heard.
"Since when is there a river there?" he said to himself. He knew that strange things had been happening lately with the war brewing and all, but this was just bizarre.
He walked the last ten feet to the edge of the river, making sure to keep a safe distance from the water. He didn't mix with water. Not at all.
He could now see that there was a boy and a girl. The girl's arm was wrapped, and he could see that it was stained with blood. She wasn't the greatest thing he'd seen all day, but a girl was a girl to him.
"What happened?" he said from across the river, arrogance in his voice where sympathy probably should have been.
