Name: Belinda Melete Krandle.
Age: 12.
Parents: Peter Krandle and *brace yourselves* Medusa.
Allegiance: The gods- at least she lives in the woods-ish at Camp Half-Blood.
Years at Camp Half-blood: 2, hidden in the woods for all of them. Was found living homeless on the streets of Brooklyn by C.C. and Bran. They give her food and fix her up with a tiny woods cabin and clothes.
Appearance: Deceptively ordinary. Curly tendrils of pale hair. Spooky smile. Kinda like this: pics.livejournal.com/stellae_novae/pic/0000tdyr/s320x240 Sad expression, usually downcast to avoid eye contact. Pale. Thin. Wears farmgirl/schoolgirl clothes in an effort to blend in. Unnaturally bright and snakelike eyes.
Personality: Timid, shy. Secretive, closing in on herself. Incredibly well-controlled and self-possessed. Too mature for her years.
Likes: Twizzlers and Fritos. Shampoo products, hair clips and braids, lots of braids. Hats. '60s pop music. The Beatles. Bran and C.C., her surrogate family. Curses.
Dislikes: Pain. Helplessness. Sour-cream-and-onion potato chips. Nerds and anything by Wonka. Disney music and most made after 1997. Medusa. Peter Krandle. Her eyes.
Strengths: Polite conversation. Adult concerns. Learning to read and about the world. Sensory. Patience. Paying attention. Intelligence.
Weaknesses: Expressing emotion or displaying attachment. Opening up. Talking to kids her own age.
Powers: She is a lightning rod and causer of both pain and misery, so they are hard to avoid. She worries about causing them, which is another one of her powers. Can feel a person's deepest fear or pain when looking them in the eyes. Can paralyze up to three people when they are within eyesight. Causes pain to someone touching her if she doesn't watch it.
Weapons: A Swiss watch she uses to help focus on paralyzing the attacker. Non-enchanted. None otherwise.
History: Medusa had a one-night-stand with Peter Krandle in the guise of a blind woman and then rejected her offspring as "too human," and gave her to Mr. Krandle. Peter reluctantly fed and clothed Belinda, whom he named, until she was four years old. Then he dumped her in a orphanage. Precocious Belinda escaped at six, ran around the country 'til ten, was discovered by Bran and C.C. at the age of eight living homeless. Medusa never claimed her daughter, but Belinda knows who she is because of her father's words and her dreams, as well as that they will meet someday. Belinda was cursed to die at the age of sixteen by a child of Zeus since she was three years old, a fact she has so far hidden from Brandon and C.C. successfully. She also has a small crush on Nico di Angelo, from watching him from her cabin. Is becoming functionally literate.
Roleplay Sample: "What are you reading, Lind?"
"Baby-Sitter's Club. Everybody's so shallow." Slightly disgusted, Belinda pushed the book aside.
"It's common in teenagers," noted Bran, son of Hera, foster-brother/father. "You'll be thirteen soon."
"I forget my birthday," frowned Belinda.
"Make it the day we found you. That way, you're young," suggested C.C.
Belinda grinned up at her foster-sister/mother. "That was June 27th," she informed the daughter of Ares and Persephone.
"Three days," sighed Bran. "You need cake!"
"Nah," shrugged Lind. "I just need a new book."
Both dyslexic demigods laughed.
