Name: Desdemona (Des) Echo Anthony
-Desdemona means ‘ill-starred’ while Echo is the nymph who fell in love with Narcissus and was cursed by Hera-
Age: 15
Parents: Cer(goddess of violent death) and Ben Anthony
Allegiance: She’s a spy for Kronos…
Years at Camp Half-blood: One year. She came to camp, was put in the Hermes cabin and stayed there even after she was claimed. Shortly after that she and a group of kids met Luke outside the borders and she became a spy. Shhh…
Note: Has a love/obsession relationship with Koeset.
Appearance: Des is small for her age. She’s rather short and slim. Almost to slim. She has thin limbs and her half brother Thomas used to tease her that if she turned on her side, she’s disappear from view.
Her scruffy black hair reaches just past her shoulders, and her nose is small and sharp, just like the rest of her. Her violet eyes are never peaceful, always wandering around, as if waiting to be found out or attacked. Guess that’s the ADHD does to you.
Her skin is a dark olive color, and it looks stretched over her bones, as if she has been underfed most of her life (who’s to say she hasn’t?) She has horrible posture and is easily mistaken for someone much smaller then she actually is.
All in all, Des isn’t much of a looker (though of course the lack of care about appearance attributes to this) and she doesn’t really care. It’s good for a spy to be unobtrusive and not attract unwanted attention.
Personality: Des is often very angry. She’s angry at the gods, she’s angry at the Titans. But she can’t deny that her biggest rage is with herself. She’s full of self-loathing. She hates what her life has become. Stuck in the middle of two sides of a war.
When she actually does interact with people (rarely) she comes off as a bit cruel. She does love the thrill of the kill and when the Titan’s win, she’s hinted about a job as a torturer and she’s pretty confident that Luke might give her that. She is very good at hiding emotions, and that’s what makes someone good at that type of thing.
Every so often she reports to Ethan Nakumura or another officer. And sometimes even Luke/Kronos. That’s if she has something really important to say. Des is fiercely loyal to her cause, which is strange, as she’s considered a traitor. Just like Luke, who she looks up to as an idol.
She takes after her mother more then she knows, with her violence fetish. Obsession with blood, death fascination. It comes with being the daughter of Cer, goddess of violent death.
Likes:
- Mentioned before: blood, violence death.
- Coffee Ice Cream
- Luke, it’s almost like a crush/obsession.
- The Titan Army.
Dislikes:
- The Gods
- People in general
- Annoyances
- Pop music
Strengths:
- Good fighter
- Spying
- She retaliates quickly
Weaknesses:
- Little conscience
- Quick temper
- Unhealthy interests (besides coffee ice cream- that‘s not very unhealthy)
Powers: She didn’t really inherit any powers, except little regret of her actions, a lust for violence and a distrust of everyone but herself and a select few.
Weapons: She has spear tipped with Stygian Iron, because her mother is a goddess of the Underworld. She calls it Haimon, meaning 'bloody'. It's purpose is to cause as much pain as possible. Even a scratch is agony, and it wasn't made to kill quickly.
History: Left with her father, a police officer, Des learned how to rebel early, against her strict father and the laws he enforced. She lived semi normally (if you count complaints about injuring other students at school normal) with her dad, step mother and half brother Tom (two years her junior)
Then she got in a fight. Her fighting nature kicked in and she nearly killed the other girl. Too ashamed to go back home she wandered NYC for three months until, attacked by a monster and saved by a satyr, she was brought to camp. She immediately didn’t like it.
Des felt out of place. After being claimed, it was worse. She had to stay in the Hermes cabin, and everyone watched her warily. When she over heard a daughter of Apollo and a son of Aphrodite conferring about meeting someone in the woods that night, she demanded to know what they were talking. Reluctantly they admitted they were going to join the Titan’s army. She automatically took to that idea, and followed them, listening to the entire meeting, enthralled by the traitor son of Hermes.
After the induction she meant to leave quietly, when Luke spotted her. Instead of punishing her, he offered a job as a spy. She accepted almost immediately.
Roleplay Sample:
Des walked past the Hermes cabin towards the cabin where the children of the lame god slept. She leaned casually against the wall, looking menacingly at anyone who stopped and stared before they continued on their way, their pace slightly quicker.
The daughter of Cer strained her ears, hoping to catch a word, a whisper. Anything that might clue her in as to what weapon they were making next.
“Nah, we’d need a bigger forge,” she heard a girl say. Something big, okay.
“But it would certainly benefit our defenses,” she heard Charles Beckendorf argue. Something defensive. This was too easy. She scanned her brain for ideas on what it could be. A catapult? Not likely…
